(OLYMPIA)— Governor Christine Gregoire has declared next week as Washington Farmers Market Week across the state.
The Washington State Department of Agriculture says the popularity of farmers markets continues to increase with the number of markets doubling in the past decade.
Statewide, farmers markets belonging to the Washington State Farmers Markets Association reported $32-million dollars in sales last year.
There are several farmers markets around the area, including in Anacortes and Mount Vernon.
