(ANACORTES)- Oil spill response boats, vessels and equipment will be deployed Tuesday near Rosario Strait as part of a drill to test how well BP Shipping can respond to a simulated collision and oil spill. No oil will be spilled during the large-scale exercise. Washington Department of Ecology representatives will observe and evaluate the response. The drill will test several geographic-based response plans designed to help reduce environmental damage if a spill were to occur. Washington law mandates that all oil companies that transfer high volumes of oil over water have a response plan in order to operate in state waters.
