In Single-A Minor League Baseball, the Everett AquaSox are at the Tri-City Dust Devils at 7:15 p.m.

In Semi-Pro Baseball, the Bellingham Bells are at the Moses Lake Pirates at 7:30 p.m.

In Junior Single-A American Legion  Baseball, Oak Harbor hosts Rainier Valley (at Daniels Field in Anacortes) in a double-header starting at 4 p.m., Burlington is at Arlington (at Arlington High School) at 6 p.m., La Conner hosts Bellingham North (at La Conner High School) at 6 p.m.

In Independent Double-A Youth Baseball, Mount Vernon plays El Diamonte at Tulare Western (California) at 4 p.m.

In Independent Single-A Youth Baseball, Mount Vernon hosts Sedro-Woolley (at Sherman Anderson Field) at 5:30 p.m.  Mount Vernon will then host Lynden Christian (at Sherman Anderson Field) at 8 p.m.

In Single-A Minor League Baseball, the Everett Aquasox are at the Spokane Indians at 6:30 p.m.

In Semi-Pro Baseball, the Bellingham Bells play the Walla Walla Sweets at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon to close out their series at Joe Martin.

In Soccer, the Seattle Sounders FC play the Portland Timbers tonight at 7:30 p.m. at PGE Park in Portland in U.S. Open Cup play.

Shane Stewart started on the pole with former champion Jonathan Allard on the outhside of the front row.

Allard took the lead on lap one and led the first 23 laps until he spun out in turn one after tangling with lapped traffic.

16-year-old Zach Zimmerly of California came home second the first two nights and finished second last night.  Zimmerly says his car was right there…

And two time defending Dirt Cup champion Jayme Barnes from Everett finished third.  Barnes had some tough luck in the A-Main Scramble that decided the top six starting spots…

Jason Solwold took fourth and the Kaeding brothers, Tim and Bud, finished fifth and sixth respectively.  Allard spun out later in the race and wound up 20th out of 24 cars.  Kyle Hirst won the B-Main Event while Danielle Huson took the C-Main win.  Reece Goetz won the Midget feature race.

Beitler says NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kasey Kahne will be returning to Skagit Speedway for a special 360 race Friday night, August 27th, with all proceeds raised benefiting Kasey’s foundation, which supports under privileged kids in need.

Beitler later told the crowd that in honor of next year’s 40th anniversary of Dirt Cup, the 40-lap Race of Champions will pay out $40-thousand dollars to the winner.

The West Coast’s top 410 Sprint Car drivers will compete.

The event runs three night’s and finishes Saturday evening with the 40-lap Race of Champions which pays $25,000 to the winner.

Racing starts tomorrow at 7 p.m.
